ORGANIC CERTIFICATION

In compliance with the REGULATION OF THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE NUMBER 64/Permentan/OT.140/5/2013 Article 10, all Organic Products circulating in Indonesia, both domestic production and imported product, must include the Indonesian organic logo.

Organic Certification

Organic Certification provided by Multicert Global Indonesia​

Organic CB Multicert Global Indonesia can certify Organic Farming Systems for the following scopes:

  1. Crops and Crop Products
  2. Livestock and Livestock Products
  3. Wild Collection Products
  4. Inputs Production (Feed, Fertilizers, Pesticides, Seeds and Seedlings)
  5. Processed Food Products
Fresh Crops and Crop Products

General Requirements:

  • Did not use agrochemicals and genetically modified products on certified land for at least 2 years for annual crops and 3 years for perennial crops.
  • Prevent contamination from outside the certified area such as from water, air, equipment, etc.
  • Not mixing organic and non-organic products and labeling products with SNI organi.
  • Implement an organic farming system

Additional Requirements:

If the applicant applies for certification in a group, the client must fulfill the Internal Control System (ICS) requirements.

Livestock and Livestock Products

Organic livestock production is a harmonized relationship between crop and livestock production that occurs through an organic farming management system that pays attention to the behavior and needs of livestock. Livestock and livestock products such as milk, meat, and others can be sold as organic products if they have implemented an organic farming system in compliance with SNI 6729:2016, MOA 64/2013 and PerkaBPOM No.1/2017 through organic product certification from the Multicert Global Indonesia Organic Certification Body.

General Requirement:

  • Animals must be raised organically from birth. If organic stock is not available because it is still in the early stages of organic livestock development, it is allowed to bring in stock from conventional production.
  • Animal feed uses organic feed or approved ingredients.
  • Animals are raised with regard to Animal Welfare (housing conditions, drinking water, natural lighting, fresh air, stress-free environment).
  • Organic production improves and maintains animal health and welfare through a balanced organic diet, stress-free environment and selection of breeds that are resistant to diseases, parasites and infections.
  • Implement an organic management system for livestock production.

Imported Products/Products of Origin

All organic products imported and distributed in the Republic of Indonesia shall use the Indonesian Organic SNI label. Importers must be certified organic by a certification body accredited by KAN.

General Requirement:

  • Standard Acceptability
  • Every importer must submit a valid organic certificate from the producer in the country of origin as well as a health certificate or certificate of free sale.
  • LSO MGI will assess the acceptability of the origin country's organic standard with the Indonesian organic standard.
Certification of Wild Products

Organic certification for wild collected products is aimed for the collection of products from plants [leaves, flowers, roots, stems and fruits], wild honey and mushrooms that grow wild and are not cultivated by humans. Producers only collect wild products in a sustainable way.

General Requirements:

  • The Area is free from agrochemical contamination for at least 3 years
  • Map of collection area with complete collection area boundaries, collection locations, contamination areas/isolation areas
  • Area is not located in agricultural or residential areas

Product Requirements:

  • Area Requirements
  • Complete information on harvested plants: Latin name, local name, part harvested, collection location, collection period, plant habitat.
  • Collection method is sustainable
Processed Food Products

General Requirements:

  • Organic handling and processing requirements for products of plant, animal and livestock origin, wild harvest products.
  • Using organic certified ingredients as indicated by a copy of a valid organic certificate.
  • During the handling and processing process from the receipt of raw materials to the final product is not mixed with non-organic products and is not contaminated with prohibited materials.
  • Products can be claimed as “organic” if they use at least 95% organic ingredients, excluding water and salt.
  • Implement an organic system plan for handling and processing
  • For businesses that market organic products under their own brand, they can apply for organic certification themselves if they handle and/or package organic products [including repackaging and labeling]. These activities can be carried out in their own facilities or by a third party (sub-contracted).

Organic Certification for Handlers & Packers also applies to providers of organic product handling and packaging services for third party [providers]. In this case, the provider can provide organic product handling and packaging services to any organic producer, processor or trader.

Organic Inputs

Organic inputs (fertilizers, pesticides, seeds) can be used in the organic production process if the producer cannot produce their own. Commercial organic inputs used in organic production must be certified as organic.

General Requirements:

  • Organic inputs are produced using raw materials and produced in accordance with SNI 6729:2016 and Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) 64/2013.
  • Organic inputs must be registered with the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. Specifically, organic fertilizers, biofertilizers and soil conditioners must meet the Minimum Technical Requirements for Organic Fertilizers, Biofertilizers, and Soil Conditioners (MoA Decree No. 261/2019)

Certification of organic certified commercial inputs under ORGANIK INDONESIA is required to sell organic commercial input products in Indonesia.
